Suzanne Martinez is a Staff Chaplain at Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital in Barrington, IL, one of the largest hospitals in the area. Besides her pastoral duties ministering to hospital patients and their families, Suzanne also serves as Congregational Coordinator and Hispanic Liaison for Good Shepherd’s Office for Mission and Spiritual Care.
Prior to her vocation as Staff Chaplain, Suzanne Martinez enjoyed a successful career in the private sector as a marketing specialist, developing her communications skills at several large local companies. Throughout her life she has also continually served in a range of civic and charitable organizations from her home town of Wauconda, Illinois, most recently including: Diaper Bank of Lake County, Board Senior Care Volunteer Network (SCVN); Board Director of YMCA Camp Duncan and the Lake Zurich Rotary.
Suzanne finds great satisfaction in her outreach projects within the faith community, for example, initiating and coordinating health fairs with local parishes and, most recently, staging the Interfaith Music Benefit Concert. But she is most gratified by the pastoral aspect of her work. The care and counsel of Good Shepherd patients and their families are closest to her heart.
And this reflects Suzanne’s dream for the Church, her vision for a profound spiritual connection among the faithful that is infused by the Holy Spirit. Both as a chaplain and a faith community organizer, Suzanne Martinez continues to nurture that unity of human reality and the divine presence among us.
